American Legion Post Commander John E. The Commander expounded on the many ranks that Alan had to fulfill to reach his goal, he is a fine young man and I had the benefit of approving each one.

The call to order was turned over to District Officer Walter Honeycutt who called for the  presentation of Colors by the color Guards, 780 Eagle Scouts Sean McNamara, Jake Currin & Trey Joseph. Mike Currin Jakes Father then gave the invocation.

Honeycutt introduced the family and distinguished guests, Mayor Oscar Harris, Knights of the Neckerchief and Occoneechee Council board member Ernest Alphin.

Dunn Mayor Oscar Harris spoke on the courage, determination and physical stamina that goes into the years from Cub Scout to this level. He explained that roughly two percent achieve the goal of Eagle and they are respected throughout the community. He extolled a few accolades on the parents and leaders that make it all possible. Mayor Harris then read and presented Alan with a Dunn community plaque.

Troop Committee Chairman and former Scout Scoutmaster John (Mac) McNamara recipient of the Silver Beaver award was introduced as the next speaker. Mac is a Post 59 Legionnaire, the father of Eagle Scout Sean and the son of the American Legion Post 59 Commander. Being the Scout Master he shared many of the moments spent with Alan and troop 780 throughout their years. Mac also showed a ten minute 'Alan' slide show.

Honeycutt spoke on the History of the Eagle & Man. Fred Joseph, Eagle Scout Trey's father, was the voice of the Eagle. The Honor of reading the Eagle Charge leading to the Eagle Scout presentation was Alan's Brother Anthony Agosto a 780 Eagle Scout and currently in the Army returning from Iraq. Following the reading Anthony handed the pin to his Mother to officially pin on her son. Alan then pinned his mother turned and placed a tie tack on his father.

Following Alan's speech on the person he considered his mentor throughout his scouting carrier he chose and pinned his Dad to the applause and cheers of those present.

Ernest Alphin, Knights of the Neckerchief was the last presenter in sealing the Eagle Scout rank. Using a sword and touching each shoulder as Alan kneels, Ernest quotes special words over the Scout and then Alan receives his special colored Eagle Scout neckerchief as his crowning and final achievement.
